Finding Clarity Through Walking
I’ve seen around that when you’re in a bit of a rut, or a fit, or a tough moment that has you hung up in your thoughts, going for a walk can be helpful. I thought it to be hogwash until I tried it. I didn’t even need to think about how or why this might be beneficial. I had written it off because whatever my thoughts were at the time seemed more sure that a thing couldn’t be done. All that to say, it took me a lot longer to reach the fruit for my own stubbornness.
The Transformative Journey of Faith
Aligning with God’s will is a transformative journey. Jesus taught us to change the way we think and act. In Romans 12:2, it is stated:“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”When I am frustrated about something, or have done all that I can do, or am trying to figure out another way to approach a situation against my own desires, going for a walk is super helpful. It helps me maintain my desired fitness levels and teaches me a lesson in patience.
A Journey of Growth and Intimacy
When I started going out on walks, I initially set a limit of about 5 minutes. I would try to rush those minutes and often cut them short. However, as I began to work on issues like anger and learning to be quick to listen and slow to speak, my walk times gradually increased. During these walks, I realized that my intimacy with God was growing. I was being coached and revealed unto.
Learning Through Repetition
In my faith walk, I have learned the importance of repetition. I repeated many lessons over and again to learn and apply them. Physical walks provide relief from anxieties encountered in the midst of trying to manage a situation. They may not change that situation, but God can shift your perspective so that you receive His peace in all circumstances.
Resting in His Promises
I find comfort resting in His promise to never leave nor forsake you. This comforting grace has never walked away. I’m choosing to walk it out in faith, trusting that God has already worked it out!
